Rotary Club of Swarthmore is dedicated to building and lifting our community in and around Swarthmore.
As such, we are happy to provide two kinds of funding for our neighbors –
- Scholarships for High School seniors going into college; and
- Grants for Community organizations that need some extra funds for projects!
Scholarships:
We invite High School Seniors to apply for scholarships to attend college..
Community Grants:
Any community organization is able to apply for grants awarded between $250 and $1500.
Scholarships for High School Seniors
Two awards of $3000 are given out each year to Strath Haven High School seniors who are attending a college or technical school after graduation. We encourage all students to apply! Note: while we do ask for a copy of your transcript, your grades are NOT a limiting factor in our decision. We are a community-based organization that encourages students to take an active role in their environment . Whether that is community building through events, organizing programs designed to solve a need, preserving family or community traditions to strengthen access to culture, volunteering in your local youth programs or cleanups – whatever it is, we want to hear it!
To Apply:
Each year we pose a writing prompt: Rotary’s primary goal is service to the community, whether local or global. Please describe how you have served the community while in high school and how you hope to serve the community in the future.
Please try to keep responses to one 8×11 page in length.
Send your response, a copy of your transcripts (unofficial copy is acceptable), list of extracurricular activities, and filled in application form (found below) to Richard Shimko at shimko99 at verizon.net

Community Grants
We welcome Requests for Funding that address specific needs with defined goals and measurable results that will improve the lives of citizens in the community.
If you are a member of a group that is working to make improvements in the community, and would like to submit a request for funding to our club, we welcome your proposal! All requests are reviewed by a committee to determine if we are able to support the initiative based on available funds and the merits of the request. Grants are typically between $250 and $1000.
